A true garden phenomenon and a customer favourite, Salvia 'Hot Lips' is loved for its incredible bicolour display and exceptionally long flowering season.
From early summer right through to the first frosts, this bushy, evergreen (if not cut back by frost) shrublet is covered in eye-catching flowers featuring cherry-red lips and gleaming white tops.
The aromatic, small green leaves release a pleasant blackcurrant scent when brushed against, making it a delight for sensory gardens or paths. Uniquely, the flower colour is temperature-dependent; you may see solid red blooms in hot weather, solid white in autumn, and the classic bicolour inbetween. It's drought-tolerant and deer-resistant, may need protection in severe winters.
July-September flowering. Evergreen. Requires a sunny and well drained position and may need protection during colder spells. Height & spread: 90cm x 60cm (36" x 24").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
