A vibrant and reliable herald of spring, Ribes sanguineum 'Red Pimpernel' is a compact variety of the classic Flowering Currant. This deciduous shrub is prized for its prolific display of pendent flower clusters in a rich, bright pink-red shade, which appear in April and May just as the fresh green foliage begins to unfurl.

More compact than many traditional varieties, 'Red Pimpernel' is an excellent choice for smaller gardens or mixed borders where space is at a premium. Its aromatic, lobed leaves release a distinctive blackcurrant scent when brushed. Fully hardy and easy to grow, it provides a vital early source of nectar for bumblebees.

Spring-early summer flowering. Will grow in sun or semi-shade in most garden soils. 2.5m x 1.5m (8' x 5').
