Rich royal purple flowers, carried over many months, make this reliable perennial an excellent choice for bringing colour and vertical interest to sunny borders.
Penstemon ‘Pensham Czar’ produces elegant, tubular blooms from early summer well into autumn, held above neat, bushy green foliage that blends effortlessly with cottage garden and contemporary planting schemes. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, while the long flowering season ensures lasting garden interest.
Barnsdale tip: Leave the old stems in place until spring to help protect the crown from frost, then cut back as fresh growth appears. Apply a thick mulch of well-rotted manure or compost in autumn to protect the roots. Avoid winter waterlogging.
June-October flowering. Will grow in sun or semi-shade in a well drained soil. Height & spread: 70cm x 40cm (28" x 16").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
