Papaver orientale 'Allegro' is a compact, vibrant Oriental poppy, ideal for adding a bold splash of colour to early summer borders. Its large, fiery, orange-red blooms with dramatic black centres rise above neat mounds of deeply cut, grey-green foliage.
This hardy perennial makes a striking focal point in mixed or cottage-style plantings. Its tidy, low-growing habit makes it suitable for smaller gardens or the front of borders. Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage and maintain a tidy appearance.
May - July flowering. Grows best in full sun and any well-drained soil. Height & spread: 45cm-60cm x 45cm-60cm (18"-24" x 18"-24").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
