Few climbing plants can match the unusual and enchanting fragrance combined with the rare, deep red blossom that this charming vine brings to a sunny garden wall.

Forming a dense, twisting mantle of small, semi-evergreen, lance-shaped green leaves, Jasminum beesianum is highly prized for its unique floral colour, which stands out against traditional white jasmines.

In early summer, it produces a profusion of small, velvety, trumpet-shaped flowers in a rich shade of deep carmine-pink to reddish-purple, which release a sweet, delicate scent into the warm air. These nectar-rich blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies and are followed in autumn by glossy, jet-black berries that provide winter interest. Fully hardy and vigorous, it is a fantastic favourite for scrambling over trellises, arbours, or fences.
