Injecting a vibrant splash of luminous colour into the dimmer corners of the garden, this energetic evergreen perennial is exceptional for brightening up shaded borders and containers.
The deeply ruffled leaves are a brilliant, sharp chartreuse-yellow that remains fresh and clear throughout the year without scorching in the sun or fading in the shade. It forms a neat, dense mound of foliage that provides a wonderful texture and a sharp colour contrast against darker woodland plants like ferns or deep purple hellebores. In summer, slender stems rise above the foliage bearing small, airy panicles of creamy-white flowers, though it is the intense foliage that remains the true star.
It is a robust and weather-resistant variety that performs reliably in both ground and pots, coping well with typical British damp winters provided the drainage is sound.
Barnsdale tip: Plant this variety in partial or dappled shade rather than deep shade; a little morning sunlight helps to intensify that zesty, lime-green colour without burning the leaves.
Summer flowering. Evergreen. Drought tolerant. Will grow in sun or semi-shade in moist, well-drained soil. Height & spread: 45cm x 45cm (18" x 18").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
