A radiant choice for bringing reliable warmth to the summer border, this outstanding daylily is celebrated for the exceptional luminosity and substance of its blooms.

The large, trumpet-shaped flowers are a rich shade of deep golden-yellow to orange-gold, featuring heavily substance-textured petals with gently ruffled edges and a chartreuse-green throat that adds a fresh contrast. Held on sturdy, branched scapes well above a handsome, fountain-like mound of arching green foliage, each bloom lasts for just a day but is replaced in quick succession by a relentless supply of new buds.

Reaching a manageable height of around 65–70cm, it is a mid-season tetraploid variety that offers an incredibly robust performance in full sun or light dappled shade. It is an enduringly hardy perennial that adapts to almost any soil condition, making it perfect for mass plantings, mixed borders, or large patio pots.

Barnsdale tip: To keep the display looking immaculate and to encourage the plant to put all its energy into the remaining buds, snap off the faded flowers every morning. In early spring, clear away last year's dead, strapped leaves to make way for the fresh, bright green growth.

June-August flowering. Grows best in sun or partial shade in any moist, well-drained soil. Height & spread: 70cm x 65cm (28" x 26").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant

This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
