Arguably the most intensely blue ornamental grass available, Elymus magellanicus (Magellan rye grass) brings a striking architectural element to the garden. This evergreen perennial grass forms a dense, cascading mound of exceptionally bright, metallic blue-grey foliage that retains its vivid colour throughout the year.
In mid-summer, tall, slender blue stems arise, bearing narrow flower spikes that gently fade to a soft wheat-brown by autumn. It is a fantastic choice for adding texture and contrast to sunny borders, gravel gardens, or contemporary container displays. Fully hardy, this low-maintenance grass thrives in full sun and sharply drained soil, where its intense blue tones remain most dramatic.
Summer flowering. Best in a sunny position in well-drained soil. Height & spread: 30cm x 30cm (12" x 12").
