A flamboyant twist on the classic coneflower, this double-flowered variety offers incredible endurance and eye-catching texture for the sunny border.
The blooms are the real talking point: a prominent, fluffy pompom of deep magenta petals sits atop a 'skirt' of slightly reflexed ray florets, creating a distinctive two-tiered shape. Unlike some traditional singles that drop their petals relatively quickly, these dense cones hold their rich, saturated colour for weeks on end from mid-summer into autumn.
Standing on thick, self-supporting stems, it makes a superb cut flower that lasts exceptionally well in water. It thrives in a sunny, open spot but demands good drainage; it will not thank you for heavy, waterlogged soil during a wet winter.
Barnsdale tip: Echinaceas are notoriously late risers in the British spring. Mark their position with a small cane in autumn so you don't accidentally hoe through the sleeping crowns before the new leaves finally emerge in May.
June-September flowering. Drought tolerant. Best in a sunny and well-drained position. Height & spread: 90cm x 30cm (36" x 12").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.
