Thriving in the most challenging, sun-baked spots where few other perennials can survive, this resilient border plant is exceptional for introducing a long season of vivid colour.
The plant produces a succession of dense, rounded flower heads in a rich, deep crimson-pink that stands out beautifully against its fleshy, blue-green foliage. It begins its display in late spring and continues to push out new blooms right through until autumn, making it a valuable nectar source for bees, butterflies, and moths.
It forms a woody-based, bushy clump that actively prefers poor, chalky, or stony soil, making it a classic choice for coastal gardens, gravel beds, or growing directly out of old stone walls. This is an incredibly self-sufficient plant that requires no feeding or extra watering once its roots are down.
Barnsdale tip: Cut the spent flower stems right back to the base immediately after the first flush of blooms fades in midsummer to encourage a second wave of colour in autumn and to prevent it from self-seeding too freely.

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.
