Providing a subtle movement and year-round structural interest, this versatile New Zealand sedge is an invaluable asset for introducing texture to winter borders.
The exceptionally fine, hair-like foliage emerges a soft olive-green in spring before slowly taking on coppery-orange tones as summer advances. By autumn and winter, the colours intensify into a bright, burnt orange that glows particularly well when backlit by the low winter sun. It forms a graceful, cascading mound that arches gently, adding a soft, naturalistic feel to any planting scheme.
This grass is completely evergreen and looks magnificent trailing over the edge of a container, nestled into a gravel garden, or woven through a traditional herbaceous border. It is highly reliable and handles wind and coastal exposure with ease.
Barnsdale tip: Don't cut this grass back in spring; instead, put on a pair of rubber gloves and gently comb through the foliage with your fingers to pull out any dead, brown leaves and keep it looking fresh.

Live plants require proper preparation for shipment, specialist packing and courier services and as such may be subject to delay of up to twelve working days, to ensure the quality of your item.

If you haven’t received your order within 3 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at info@barnsdalegardens.co.uk with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.
As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
