An elegant solution for brightening up darker corners as summer draws to a close, this enduring perennial brings structure and clarity to the late-season border.
The semi-double, pure white flowers feature a charmingly ruffled collar of petals around a prominent hub of golden-yellow stamens, held aloft on remarkably sturdy stems. Flowering reliably from August through to October, it provides a valuable food source for late pollinators while standing up exceptionally well to autumnal wind and rain.
The dark green, deeply lobed foliage forms a dense, neat mound that effectively suppresses weeds throughout the spring and summer months. It is happiest in partial shade but will tolerate full sun if the soil stays consistently moist, making it a highly adaptable choice for tricky spots beneath deciduous trees or against a north-facing wall.
Barnsdale tip: This variety has a vigorous, spreading habit once established, so give it plenty of space or lift and divide clumps every few years in early spring to keep it within bounds.
Early autumn flowering. Will grow in sun or semi-shade in most garden soils. Height & spread: 60cm-90cm x 60cm (2'-3' x 2').

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant
This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
