A true giant of the late spring garden, Allium 'Gladiator' is one of the tallest and most impressive ornamental onions available. In May and June, sturdy, upright stems reach heights of up to 1.2 metres, topped with magnificent, globe-shaped flower heads. Each sphere is composed of hundreds of tiny, star-like flowers in a rich, vibrant shade of violet-purple.

A firm favourite for adding architectural height to the middle or back of a sunny border, 'Gladiator' looks spectacular when planted in drifts. This RHS Award of Garden Merit winner is a magnet for bees and butterflies and makes an outstanding, long-lasting cut flower.

May-June flowering. Best in a sunny and well drained position. Height & spread: 120cm x 50cm (47" x 20").

As perishable goods, live plants cannot be returned.

Peat-free plant

This plant has been grown in peat-free compost. The compost we use at Barnsdale Gardens is mainly wood-based, mixed with some coir, with an eight to nine months slow-release fertiliser added. We have been using this compost to pot all the plants we grow for over ten years.
