First impressions are that it’s a solid, strong hand tool. I’ve reviewed a few trowels before and said that dull coloured or wooden handled tools are easily lost in a border or compost heap but this trowel has a yellow plastic handle so should be easy to find.
The overall length of the trowel is 344mm and the width is 86mm at its widest part. The weight is 0.307kg, so slightly heavier than some other trowels but feels well balanced and about right to me.
The ergonomic handle has a black grip, predominantly rubberised on the underside, so it’s very comfortable to hold and there’s also a hole for hanging.
The stainless-steel head is more rounded and concave than a standard trowel so it has a larger soil collection capacity when digging planting-holes or moving soil.
I’ve used this trowel for planting out tender perennials and it worked well in the Barnsdale clay soil, it feels strong and capable whereas others can be flimsy and even bend.
Conclusion: There are many different trowels on the market, some are good and others I’d dismiss but I’d happily have this one in my collection. With a small price tag and a five year warranty, what’s not to like?
