FloraBrite® Pocket Pruners: £21.49
Tested June 2024
These pocket pruners are simply small bypass secateurs, they have robust alloy handles, covered with a comfortable cushion grip – these ones are coloured FloraBrite® yellow so have the benefit of being bright and easy to find (FloraBrite® Pink also available).
They feel sturdy yet lightweight (150g) and as they’re small (17cm), ideal for carrying in a pocket The blades are made of high-carbon steel so very strong and likely to stay sharp, the locking mechanism catch works well.
I used these for a variety of tasks: deadheading Roses; shaping up a Bay tree and cutting back some hardy Geraniums.
I’d recommend these for people with smaller hands for daily snipping and smaller pruning tasks (max. diameter 1.5cm) but I’d go for the larger Florabrite secateurs if I wanted to prune bigger shrubs.
The pruners have a ten-year guarantee so they should be a good buy, spare springs can be purchased separately if they’re lost but there doesn’t seem to be an option to replace other parts if they fail, so that would be my only minor criticism.
Conclusion: Overall they’re a good pair of pruners.
