Deciduous. January to February flowering. This Hazel was first found in 1863 in a Gloucestershire hedgerow where a mutant was seen to have spirally twisted stems. This shrub is highly contorted with its branches bearing broad, ovate, green leaves. The pendant yellow male catkins appear before the leaves. Best in full sun in most garden soils. 3.6 x 3.6m (12' x 12')
